Our excellent fly fishing instructor Mick Siggery reports on a recent day at the Frensham Trout lakes fishery. The fisher Gary had been given the day as a birthday gift via one of our fly fishing gift vouchers.

Nice fish!

Nice fish!

‘As a fishing instructor / guide the weather plays such an important part of your day. September 13th was going to be one of the hottest days of the month – 81 degrees and cloudless skies. In these conditions it is sometimes difficult to get the fish to take. Gary and I started early and found a shaded spot under trees where a small stream feed the lake. On went a size 18 Adams to a 4lb tippet. He had four fish to that fly, including the one in the picture, and later caught three more to a 18 black gnat, a very successful day given the weather.’
