“Blind Induced Take”

Second Day Before the Thunder.

The “induced take” is a classic method employed when “sight fishing” especially on chalk streams or limestone streams, (spring creeks), where you can target individual fish simply because you can see them due to the clarity of the water.  The same technique can be employed on clear still waters where you can often see the fish swimming around.  Great exponents of this method, at least on rivers, were the nymph fishing masters Frank Sawyer and Oliver Kite. Winter Grayling

This last few weeks have brought some ideal conditions for Grayling fly fishing.  Many days have been mild and even up here in Yorkshire Grayling have been rising to an assortment of insects well into December.  I have long been a fan of the ‘Klink & Dink’ /Duo / New Zealand style of fishing a small lightly weighted nymph under a dry fly.  It is an excellent way of catching Trout and Grayling in many rivers.  Click here to read more

Second place on Eden but a first rate river

Our excellent River Test and River Itchen guide Colin Alexander reports here on a recent competitive trip ‘up north’.  Although Colin does not himself guide on the River Eden we do have other guides who do.

Tips for Leaders

Two Go Fly Fishing UK guides Colin and Steve

Our excellent chalkstreams guide Colin Alexander has some excellent tips to pass on in this short piece:

We all love to present a fly to a fish with a stylish cast if we can, but if the presentation of the fly and immediate leader /tippet at close quarters is not acceptable to the fish in terms of sight, depth and speed then we may be casting stylishly but fishing less than effectively. Variety is the spice of … fly fishing

Yellowstone River Cutthroat Trout

Well to me it is anyway.

Much as I love my local Brown Trout and Grayling fly fishing here in Yorkshire I do like a change and some variety.  I am very lucky to have caught many species of fish over the years in many parts of the UK and the world.  Click here to read more
