The River Tweed system is a world famous destination for Salmon fishing but also provides superb Sea Trout, Brown Trout and Grayling fishing.

Our guides and instructors have a lifetime of experience of fishing on the River Tweed and its tributaries and we can suggest a variety of excellent riverside accommodations, with options including country hotels, inns, bed and breakfast and self-catering cottages, each within easy walking distance of very good fly fishing water.

The River Tweed system is a world famous destination for Salmon fishing but also provides superb Sea Trout, Brown Trout and Grayling fishing. The rivers of the Tweed system are medium to large freestone rivers and provide a wide variety of excellent fly fishing water. Salmon fishing is available from 1st February until the 30th November, ( there is no Salmon fishing on a Sunday in Scotland), and Brown Trout fishing from 15th March until 6th October. Grayling fishing is available all year and fish of more than 3lbs are not uncommon.

Access to the Tweed system is easy, under an hour's drive from Edinburgh and around 90 minutes from Glasgow or Newcastle.

Your guide/instructor will provide you with instruction in the appropriate local fly fishing techniques and, if required, fly casting tuition and loan of all the necessary fly fishing tackle, waders, flies etc. Spinning for Salmon is available on some beats at certain times of the year, tackle and instruction provided. Your guide can also collect you from a local accommodation or railway station.

Cost

Guided days or fly fishing tuition days start from as little as £220 for one person for Brown Trout and Grayling fishing and £340 for one person or £500 for two people for Salmon and Sea Trout fishing.

What to expect

We have a team of highly experienced local guides and qualified fly fishing instructors who are able to teach both double handed Salmon Spey casting and single handed trout casting and in addition they will teach you the essential and most effective fishing methods and techniques.

Our head guide is an expert in Czech nymphing and all the other essential skills required for successful Brown Trout and Grayling fly fishing. We also have a number of Salmon specialists who concentrate on the 'King of Fish', their local knowledge is absolutely vital and will greatly increase your chances of catching a fish.

A day out with any of our guides will teach you lessons for life that will enable you to catch more fish and increase your enjoyment of river fly fishing.

Go Fly Fishing UK are also able to offer fly fishing tuition and guided days in the south west of Scotland on the Rivers Nith, Annan, Urr, Cree and Minnock which flow into the Solway Firth.
