Go Fly Fishing UK provide guided days, fly fishing tuition and short breaks in the spectacular and beautiful countryside of north Wales. We have a very experienced fly fishing guide/instructor based in north Wales, he has fished the rivers and lakes throughout this area for 30 years, we believe there is no one better able to deliver your ultimate fly fishing experience in this location. We are also able to provide definitive advice on the fishing, accommodations and other attractions in north Wales.
The River Dee (pictured above) is a superb fly fishing river for Brown Trout, Salmon, Sea Trout and Grayling and is indeed probably one of the foremost Grayling rivers in the UK. The River Conway is an excellent river for Salmon and the Sea Trout fishing at night can be exceptional. In addition north Wales has some great Stillwater fly fishing from stocked lakes to the solitude of fishing mountain lakes for truly wild Brown Trout. Many of these lakes can also be fished from a boat.
It is without doubt an area of outstanding beauty yet offers contrasts to suit everyone’s taste. To the West of the region lies the Snowdonia Mountain Range which attracts climbers and walkers of all abilities. To the east there's the rolling Clwydian Hills and medieval market towns of Ruthin and Mold. Chester is on the doorstep, where two countries meet. To the south lies the beautiful Dee valley with its famous historic town of Llangollen. Further up river is Corwen and beyond that Bala, with the impressive Lake Bala, or Llyn Tegid to use its correct name. The nearby town of Wrexham offers good shopping with major stores.
Rivers and lakes are major features of the area, with the beautiful Dee running from above Bala to below Chester, and the Conway from above Bettws-y-Coed to Conwy. Both of these, plus their tributaries offer prospects of excellent fishing.
Llyn Brenig, below Denbigh and Llyn Trawsfynydd towards Porthmadoc are the largest still waters in the area but there are also a multitude of smaller natural lakes of interest to the angler, particularly near Blaenau Ffestiniog. Here will be found many smaller waters with excellent wild fishing. In addition, there are excellent commercial stillwaters including Tan-y-Mynydd, near Abergele (on the coast),Dragon Fly Fishery at Cerrigydrudion ( near Brenig), Chirk Fishery( between Wrexham and Oswestry) and Penycae reservoirs, near Wrexham.
North Wales is within easy reach of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham and has good rail links to the main towns in the area.
A guided day or fly fishing lessons in North Wales starts from as little as £169 for one person.
Quite simply a wide diversity of fishing. Whether your preference is Salmon, Sea-Trout, Brown Trout or Grayling in rivers or for Rainbows, Blues and Browns in the smaller managed waters - fishing loch style from a boat in a healthy wave or simply hunting the numerous wild Brown Trout in the mountain lakes, this region offers it all.
Our highly experienced guide can help with all fly fishing techniques - this can be traditional wets with spiders, New Zealand style using a combination of dry fly and nymph, classic dry fly or the highly effective Czech nymph in late season. The Autumn/Winter months mean serious Grayling fishing and we can even show you how to trot worms in the traditional way with a float and centre pin reel - great fun.
If stillwater Trout fishing is your favoured option we can help with boat fishing and handling as well as the normal bank techniques of nymphing, dry fly or lure fishing. Salmon and Sea Trout methods can be fly fishing, spinning or natural bait, dependant on conditions and the variety of methods offer a new dimension into the quest for these special fish.
