Northern England
In
Yorkshire
we have access to some exclusive beats on the limestone rivers
Wharfe and Aire in the
heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Both these rivers offer
superb wild Brown Trout fly fishing with the fish in the Aire
often topping 20 inches (see picture above)! The River Wharfe
is also a particularly good Grayling river. There are some
excellent
stillwater options
in the Dales with one in particular, Malham Tarn, providing just about the
best, although challenging, wild Brown Trout lake fishing in England – take a look at the photo
on our website
Yorkshire Dales page
(bottom left). This fish weighed just less than 5lbs but Steve has had them to
well over this size. In
East Yorkshire
we have access to the limestone and chalkstream rivers around
Pickering and
Driffield,
including the crystal clear
Costa Beck, Oxfolds Beck and West Beck. These provide superb
Brown Trout and Grayling fly fishing with both
species running to large sizes in these fly-rich
waters.
In the
Lake District
the rivers Eden and Eamont are in our
opinion the very best. Here again excellent fly fishing
is available for wild Brown Trout and Grayling, with the
former often topping 2lbs and the latter occasionally
getting to that size.

Southern England (near to
London) |

In the south of
England Go Fly Fishing UK have expertise on a number of
chalkstream and limestone rivers in Hampshire,
Berkshire
and the
Cotswolds. In Hampshire the River
Test and its tributaries provide superb Trout
and Grayling fly fishing. In
Berkshire the River Kennet and its tributary
the River Lambourn are very special chalkstreams for fly
fishers. The latter is a particularly clear small river containing Brown Trout as well as some very large
Grayling. The River Coln is the very best Cotswolds fly fishing river. It is a rich
limestone stream and as well as containing a good head of Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and
Grayling it flows through some of the most scenic and peaceful countryside in England.
Wales
Go Fly Fishing UK can offer guided fly fishing on the rivers of
mid and south Wales. The
waters we have particular strengths in include the Rivers Wye
and Usk and their excellent tributary streams. The
River Wye catchment offers wild Brown Trout and superb
Grayling fishing. The Usk is the best Brown Trout river
in Wales, with fish often topping 2lbs. The Usk
and Wye valleys are particularly scenic and also offer some very
good
stillwater options
for those fly fishers who like to catch Brownies in unspoilt
wild locations. In south Wales we can
offer guided Sea Trout night fishing options with the
River Neath being our favourite. This
small river produces some surprisingly large Sea Trout to those
who know when and how.
